I am Michelle, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce myself to you!
I’ve had a camera in my hands since I was a little girl. As young as 5 years old, I remember sneaking a chair to reach the top shelf of our bookcase in pursuit of the yellow box where my mom stored her Kodak Instamatic. I can still recall placing a flash cube atop the small, black camera and using all of her film stash, time after time. My parents bought my first point-and-shoot camera for Christmas before my 5th grade trip to Washington DC so that I could capture every moment of my trip (pictured below), and I’ve been upgrading cameras and filling scrapbooks ever since. The walls in our home are lined with portraits of my own two children. Capturing moments in time has always been important to me.
Both of my grandmothers lived their final years with dementia, and I understand the importance of preserving memories for generations to come. I believe that portraits should tell a story, and it would be my honor to record your defining moments.
I received my undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University and later studied photography and received my professional certification at University of North Georgia. When I’m not behind a camera, I am spending time with my two children, my husband, and my crazy little schnauzers. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I have created almost 100 scrapbooks...yes...100! Over the years I have transitioned from paper and stickers to a digital format, and I love looking back at years past when my kiddos were little! I also enjoy reading poolside in the summer and am always counting down the days until a next beach trip.
I am a former teacher, familiar with drawing out the personality of a shy child. As the mother of a busy teenager and a college student, I connect with teens and am known as ‘mom’ to many of their friends. I am playful and can put your family and children at ease. Each photo session is as important as the one before, and I will focus all of my attention on you and your family. I want our session to be fun, relaxed, and the beginning of a new friendship.
I am a Gwinnett County native and know many hidden gem locations, perfect for capturing natural light sessions in the North Atlanta area. I believe that special moments can be captured anywhere, but I love photographing in unique locations that enhance the personality of the people in front of the lens. We live in an area rich with Southern Tradition, so let’s find that perfect spot and get started!
